Hope, Housing, & Healthcare
The vision for Sayre Christian Village began in 1972 as a group of 16 Christian ministers and Layman out of Kentucky felt led to develop a nonprofit retirement community that would provide continuous care in a Christian environment.
Today, Sayre Christian Village continues that vision serving Lexingtons’ elderly community on an award-winning, 27-acre campus dedicated to quality housing, rehabilitation, and long-term care reflecting Christian compassion for all.

Appolonia Sayre
Appolonia Sayre played a crucial role in establishing Sayre Christian Village. Her unmarried brother left her the family farm when he passed. Appolonia also never married and she generously donated land on Todds Road, which was integral to the ministry's early development. Despite initial infrastructure challenges and opposition from urban planners, the determination of Sayre and other key figures helped secure the necessary permits and funding. Sayre Christian Village has since grown and expanded, continuing its mission to care for older adults, inspired by the foundational efforts and generosity of Appolonia Sayre and her family.
